The Systems Administrator will work and manage a team of systems administrators as well as other members of the IT (information technology) staff. The specific duties of the systems administrator may vary depending on the client or project requirements. The main task is to maintain the IT systems, provide assistance to juniors, perform research and resolve issues. Also, required would be training and supervising juniors. The systems administrator must stay current with technology and the competitive marketplace as well as assist in defining, planning and looking over technical operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced system analysis and design functions
  • Deliver technical presentations and demonstrations
  • Conduct detailed requirement analysis and deliver proof-of-concept projects
  • Prepare project planning and ensure strict adherance
  • Assist the service desk with support escalation and prioritize the importance of service desk calls and systems outages
  • Assist in the design and deployment of IT infrastructures and protection strategies to support client business plans
  • Perform day-to-day systems tasks (e.g. backups, event logs, etc.)
  • Analysing system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems
  • Introducing and integrating new technologies into existing data centre environments
  • Plan routine audits of systems and software
  • Plan Backup & restore strategies
  • Plan operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes
  • Plan, Install and Configure Servers
  • Prepare process, setup and deployment guideline
  • Plan, design and monitor assets and document all configuration
  • Perform change management
  • Troubleshooting any reported problems
  • System performance tuning
  • Ensuring that the infrastructure is up and running
  • Performing DR Drill and Backup Verifications

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and technology experience
  • Familiarity with Windows Servers, Linux Servers, Directory Services, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Small Business Servers, Exchange Servers, Mail Servers, Terminal Services, Windows Desktop Operating Systems, Microsoft Office, Network Routing and Switching Technologies, Firewall/VPN, etc.
  • Insight into the advantage and shortcomings of different platforms in different client contexts
  • Aptitude for technical writing and presenting factual information, analysis and recommendations
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Team player with a participative management and coaching style, which advocates a team concept
  • Open minded, desire to learn, quick thinker, creative problem solver
  • Minimum 2 years of experience

Qualifications and Certifications

  • RHCE or equivalent
